JV giveaway events…
A variation on the idea of joint ventures is joint-venture giveaway events.
These are events where an organizing team creates a website from which anyone who finds that site can download a large number of products for free.
The organizing team invites other marketers to donate their products to make the event work. The benefit for someone who donates a product is that anyone who wants to get their product has to sign up for their mailing list in order to do so.
These events are very popular, and the promotional power behind them is very strong, because everyone who participates and donates a product will promote the event to their own list members.
If you participate in a joint-venture giveaway event of this nature and your product is attractive, this represents an extremely quick and easy way of adding a few hundred new subscribers to your list, primarily because there are dozens of marketers promoting the same event to their list.
Joint-venture giveaway events are quite frequent, though some are better organized than others.

You hit the nail on the head when you said “… some [JV Giveaway Events ] are better organized than others.
I’m not trying to be negative … simply constructively criticizing many of the JV Giveaways of the recent past.
Waqyyyyyy too much emphasis is placed on the contributors; not the members. If the point of sponsoring a giveaway is to attract new subscribers … to build your list, then why do they all reward promoters who find contributors … And not reward promoters who find Members (Subscribers)? In a typical JV Giveaway, you get … let’s say 10 points for a Contributor and ½ of a point for a Member. This drives me crazy because … nothing personal Contributors … but I want a list of buyers – not sellers!!
